365 Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

If you sign on for the first time and you get this message, you are being forced to enable Multi Factor Authentication.

Setup MFA on first signin

After you signed in, and you've got the message to enable MFA, please following the instructions to configure MFA.

Download the Microsoft Authenticator (1). 

Then click Next (2).
It is recommended to use the Microsoft Authenticator but you can also choose a different authenticator; 

• If you want to use a different authenticator than the Microsoft Authenticator (like Google Authenticator of Authy), click on I want to use a different verificator-app.
• You can also choose a method than the verificator-app, like sms verification. Click on I want to set up a different method. (Whoever do note this is not recommended due to security concerns.)

If you don't own a supported smartphone (Android, iPhone, ...) that's still being updated, you'll have to choose for a different method.

Opening Microsoft Authenticator for the first time.

1. Open the Authenticator app on your smartphone.
2. If you're being asked to allow notifications, please click on Allow.
   
3. Click on Accept.
   
4. Click on Continue without checking the checkbox.
   
5. Add Work account.
   and click on Scan QR-code.
   
6. The Authenticator app will ask to allow Camera acces. Click on Allow.
   
7. Follow the instructions on your browser to setup your 2FA / MFA.
   
8. Scan the QR code with the Authenticator app.
9. Your account has now been added. Click on it.
   
10. On your smartphone, you will see a 6 digit code which you need to fill in on your browser.
    Note, you will only have 30sec to type it. Then click Next.
    
11. Once entered, you'll get a succes notification and now your account will be protected with MFA.
12. It's recommended to disable battery optimalisation so you can receive notifications.
    You can do this by clicking on the 3-dotted menu button (1), then on Disable battery optimalisation (2).
